We’re officially in week 2 of our “Shelter In Place” order so it’s getting interesting in the kitchen. I’ve been using up every last veggie scrap and trying to find ways to maximize how far our food goes so we don’t have to go out and get groceries… unless we’re absolutely out of something. It’s forcing us to rethink how we eat, which might be a good thing because some pretty creative dishes have been coming out of our kitchen lately.
I wanted to share 3 staples that I try to keep stocked up in our fridge. The good news is, they are created with minimal ingredients but can really elevate a simple meal. In the blog post below, you’ll find the recipes for Magical Green Sauce (ginger scallion sauce that is literally good on anything), Miso Butter (which you can use for eggs, vegetables, meats and other proteins) and finally pickles. Ok, pickles aren’t a sauce but if you have any leftover veggies, just throw them in a bowl with sugar and salt (at a 1:3 sugar salt ratio) and you have a snack or side dish to a meal.
